This year I started eggplant from seed under lights, but the seeds never sprouted. I finally gave up and bought two plants at a greenhouse. Now I’m kicking myself, because I can’t remember what the variety name was, and it was super productive. Or maybe it was just a good year for eggplant. In any case, I harvested a ton of it, and we ate a lot of eggplant lasagna this summer.

I grew a bunch of eggplant this year.
I’ve had zero luck starting eggplant from seed. I bought this one as a transplant.
And the plants grew really well! I could practically sit underneath the plant.
Here’s another angle on the full grown plant. It was just over waist high.
So you start with a flower.
And then you get a fruit! On this fruit, you can see the blossom still attached.
The eggplant grows larger.
Lots of flowers…
Lots of fruit!
It was a rainy summer. It decimated my tomatoes, but didn’t seem to hurt the eggplant.
The bugs didn’t seem to slow them down either. This one is a flea beetle.
Would nothing stop these eggplant flowers?
The frost finally got them. I was a little relieved.
Eggplant! The end.
