Corn Harvest

A few weeks ago, we harvested our grain corn and hung it up to dry in the garage. Yesterday we took it down, and handed it over to the friend who gave us the seeds, and now is going to grind the corn into cornmeal. Here’s the bucket we handed over:

And here’s a closeup of the corn.

Pretty, isn’t it? I can understand why some people use it just for decoration. But yes, you can eat it too. I’m looking forward to trying the cornmeal.

Also, I should mention, growing the corn was a group project, with several people planting corn. In my opinion, the corn that I personally planted produced  the nicest looking ears. I await responses to that in the comments section. 🙂

  1. Hmm… Comparing the look of the ears is debatable, but I know who had the easiest time of planting their bed.
