These Bugs Love Mustard

I planted a second round of mustard greens this year, because the bugs completely decimated my first mustard patch. These are the crazy looking orange and black bugs that I’m pretty sure are harlequin bugs. (More about harlequin bugs here from the organization Toxic Free NC.) Uh, yeah, that didn’t work out so well. The bugs simply moved over the mustard seedlings and have now done their worst. In this photo, you can see the discolored parts of the seedling leaves where the bugs have sucked out the juices, like they like to do. I really need to spend some time in the garden squishing these bugs.
