Cucumber Number

I planted four cucumber seeds in the garden, two of a pickling type, and two of a slicing type. Only two of them took off. I was aiming for two total, so score! (You have to assume that not every seed is going to germinate.) But, of course I wanted one of each, and that didn’t work out. I’m pretty sure the two plants I have are both pickling cucumbers, which I can live with. These plants can be awfully productive. I’m going to make an effort to keep an accurate count this year of how many I get from each plant. You can read more about growing cucumbers here, from the University of Illinois. (I do love University Extension sites for gardening advice.)
