You don’t really know with root vegetables, do you? While they’re growing, you can see the very tops of the roots sticking out of the ground, but it’s still hard to get a sense of how big they are. Today, it was time to find out. I pulled the first carrot out of the ground, and Hooray! It looked like a carrot! Of reasonable size! So I harvested the other two. OK, so three carrots from a spring crop is not such a great yield. But I will not be discouraged! It’s just about time to plant carrots for a fall crop, and I’m ready to give it another shot.
