New Eggplant Plants

I tried to start eggplant seeds under grow lights this year, but they never sprouted. This week I finally admitted defeat and went to the greenhouse to buy plants. We put in three eggplant plants and so far they seem to be doing OK, although as you may be able to see below, some of the bottom leaves have turned a little yellow. In other seed-starting news, I’m finally done for this year: The grow light has been switched off! A quick review: this spring I started eggplant, pepper and tomato seeds. As previously noted, the eggplant never sprouted. The peppers finally did, but are still too small to transplant. I’ve moved the containers outside where it’s warmer, which seems to be helping. And the tomatoes did wonderfully! I planted 17, and gave another 6 away. Altogether, not a bad seed-starting year.
